Doubletree Chicago Magnificent Mile Wins Developer of the Year Award

On Tuesday, October 14, 2008 The Chartres Lodging Group, LLC was awarded Doubletree’s Developer of the Year Award for its work at the Doubletree Hotel Chicago Magnificent Mile. The awards presentation took place at the annual Hilton Owners Meeting in Palm Springs, California.  Daniel J. Sheline, Senior Vice President for The Chartres Lodging Group, accepted the award on behalf of Chartres, their partners, and all involved on the project.

The John Hardy Group, acting as Project Manager, will soon complete the over $21 million renovation of the Doubletree Hotel Chicago Magnificent Mile, conveniently located between Michigan Avenue's Magnificent Mile and the Navy Pier, in the heart of downtown Chicago. Previously known as the City Centre Hotel and Sports Club , the hotel was purchased in January 2007 with plans to redevelop, reposition and convert it to a Doubletree Hotel. The Doubletree flag was installed in June 2008.

The renovation included updating the 500 guestrooms and lobby area, outdoor pool and sundeck, adding a new state-of-the-art business center, 16,000 square feet of meeting space , lobby bar and restaurant. The property also added ADA upgrades throughout and a major enhancement to the porte-cochere . The hotel’s new restaurant Market House restaurant, which is currently under construction, will debut in early 2009.
