aloft Washington National Harbor Opens

Washington DC, May 2009: aloft Washington National Harbor opened it’s doors - Thursday, march 26, 2009. “We actually opened the Hotel several months ahead of our original projection, due to the cooperation of the team we have involved”; says John Hardy, president/CEO of The John Hardy Group and partner/co-developer of the aloft National Harbor along with The Peterson Companies, The Chartres Lodging Group, and RMD Holdings.

“As a Vision of W Hotels, The John Hardy Group was pleased to participate with Starwood Hotels and Resorts in the aloft prototype as we had done so previously with Barry Sternlicht and in the early formation, the W Hotel brand development over ten years ago”, says Hardy. Designed in conjunction with the world-renowned David Rockwell and the Rockwell Group, aloft stays true to the W Hotel brand’s heritage, offering atmospheric public spaces designed to draw guests from their rooms to socialize and make friends. Guests can read the paper, work on their laptops via hotel-wide wireless internet access, play a game of pool or grab a drink with friends.

The aloft Washington National Harbor is located in a prime spot in the National Harbor development, an exciting, new waterfront community with premium office space, upscale shopping, fine dining and world-class entertainment. The hotel is in Prince Georges County, Maryland, just across the river from Alexandria, Virginia and 25 minutes outside of Washington, D.C. Highlights of National Harbor include a public marina, water taxis to and from Alexandria and Washington, D.C., and the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center, which opened April, 2008.

The aloft 190-room hotel is being managed by Kokua Hospitality LLC, a subsidiary of The Chartres Lodging Group.
