[Marco Island, FL]—On Thursday, Jan. 15, an exciting part of the Marco Island Marriott Hotel’s extensive $60 million renovation opened to a group of happy young guests who were waiting for the ceremony to be over. Marriott General Manager Bob Dictor cut the red ribbon. Cornerstone’s Dave Reilly, Executive Vice President; Sue Rizzo, Vice President of Hotel Asset Management; Jerry Speltz, Vice President of Engineering; and Rich Lutz, Marriott Director of Engineering; supervised the official opening. The cool weather didn’t deter anyone, especially with the promise of a heated pool. Kyle McCown, a brave 5-year-old from Naples, was the first down the water chute and couldn’t wait to try it again. AT the touch of a button, fountains of spray began shooting skyward while another switch sent showers raining down from a palm tree, much to the delight of the kids and their parents. The pool area is beautifully landscaped with a waterfall streaming down from a large rock overhang. It’s possible to walk between the pool and the waterfall, or sit below and imagine being in a cave. At the back of the falls is a quiet, relaxing spring surrounded by lounge chairs.

Adjacent to the larger pool is a kiddy pool where parents may supervise from chairs around the edge. When the kids get tired of the water, they will be able to head to an adjoining playground that is yet to be opened, but promises to offer a variety of activities. Out on the beach, tiki huts have been moved and staggered in an effort to provide occupants of each with a spectacular view of the gulf. Clearly, the Marriott has listened to suggestions from guests.

Families with children who take advantage of the outstanding facility on the wide, sandy beach will also enjoy the convenience of the Tiki Bar beside the larger pool, where salads, sandwiches and beverages will be served.
