Hotel Intercontinental Miami

[Miami, FL]—THE JOHN HARDY GROUP, INC., based in Atlanta, GA was selected by BASS HOTELS & RESORTS to provide Project Management Services for the 29.9-million multi-phased renovation of the HOTEL INTER-CONTINENTAL MIAMI. Work on the Project has been underway since early 1999 and continues with an anticipated completion date of September 2002.

The Hotel Inter-Continental Miami is a luxury business hotel that caters to business travelers and convention groups as well as to an international clientele. Located in the Downtown financial district, the Hotel is a 34-story concrete structure that was built in 1984-1985 as part of the development of Miami Center; a complex that includes an office building, retail and 330-car underground parking garage.

The John Hardy Group’s Wes Wehrend, Project Director, and Mike Northcutt, on-site Project Manager, are responsible for the day-to-day management of all phases of all phases of the nearly 4-year renovation. The initial phases of work included the upgrading/remodeling of the Restaurant, Kitchen, Bar/Lounge and the renovation of several 1st Floor Meeting Rooms. These first phases were begun in early 1999, and are now completed. Current phases of work include the remodeling of 639 guestrooms and suites and guest tower Corridors, the renovation of 65,000 SF of Pre-function space, Meeting Rooms, Public Areas, Ballrooms, Auditorium, and Elevator Lobbies. The final phases of work will include improvements to the Hotel’s infrastructure & Back-of-House and remodeling of the second floor Meeting and Ballrooms.
