Claude Amar
Magaging Director International
Claude Amar joined The John Hardy Group S.A.R.L. (JHG) in 2002 as Managing Director of a joint venture of The John Hardy Group and The Square Group S.A. based in Luxembourg. Mr. Amar is responsible for JHG’s international operations and development.
Mr. Amar earned his Baccalaureate in Mathematics with honours from the University of Nice, France and a PhD in Architecture from the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, France. Mr. Amar’s vast professional experience includes ten years with the IH Group, Paris France working as the Director of Development responsible for projects and developments in Europe and Asia, notably the Meridien Hotels and Resorts in Saigon and Hanoi, Vietnam. During this time Mr. Amar was also the Managing Director of Lahotel Corporation, where he was responsible for the design, project management, construction and construction financing of L’Ermitage Beverly Hills, a $60 million renovation.
Additionally, Mr. Amar has worked as Managing Director and General Manager at the Kaufmann Group and Pel Europ, both international trading houses; as the Director of Architecture for the 5-star hotel chain, Nova Park International, of Paris and Zurich; as Technical Director with Sodefra, Paris, a financial and industrial group specializing in international hotel development; as Project Manager for William B. Tabler Architects in New York City and as Project Leader at Ivan Katarincek Architects, Paris, France.
Mr. Amar is also the President and Founder of The EyeTech Foundation, a member of the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness and a full member of the World Health Organization’s “EyeSight 2020: The Right to Sight” a partnership committee of non-governmental organizations dedicated to the prevention of blindness and the education and rehabilitation of the blind.
